Social Justice School

In recent months, the political party ‘Georgian Dream’ has launched an aggressive campaign to consolidate power, undermine democratic rule, move Georgia away from the EU path and restrict civil space. This has included election irregularities, violations of voting rights, excessive use of force against peaceful protesters, as well as persecution, torture, and inhumane treatment of demonstrators. The government also exploits poverty and social vulnerability for political gain, exacerbating social inequality instead of alleviating it.

This project seeks to address the intersection of authoritarianism, the social safety net and poverty, while empowering a new generation of professionals to fight for social justice. The goal is to raise critical awareness of systemic inequalities, empower youth and civil society, and integrate social justice issues into Georgia’s political and civic agendas.

The central activity of the project is the creation of the Social Justice School, a comprehensive training programme to empower young people, including activists, professionals, and students, to fight for social justice. The school will provide participants with critical knowledge and practical tools to integrate social justice principles into political and civic agendas, promoting long-term advocacy and systemic change.
