The proposed intervention aims to build support for a national child disability benefit in Uganda. The intervention will support a consultation process to ensure that the process of developing such a new programme is inclusive and that the outcome is a programme that respects the rights of persons with disabilities.
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities and other civil society organisations in Uganda to carry out advocacy for improved access to social protection for persons with disabilities.
Through research, a series of workshops, stakeholder meetings, and public engagement activities, the project aims to build consensus, raise public awareness, and ensure the support of all key stakeholders, such that, at the end of the project, there is broad support among civil society and government stakeholders for a policy proposal for a national child disability benefit.
